Minutes April 30, 2025 Celebration meeting called to order at 6:03 pm.

Ronna Brandt sent an email regarding the parade. She asked for contact information for the pastor Aaron Tefft. And gave an update of the starting process of the parade.
Carol Otis sent an email and wanted to be involved in the celebration. She would like to honor her family with a meet up at the Whitneyville cemetery with refreshments, and a walk/hike to the Otis homestead, and possible the stone carving demonstration.
Gary: not doing the soapbox derby it is too much with not enough people to help. And it requires half a day and a day to set up. We will do the pinewood derby. He will buy a couple more cases of the cars. To sell.
Tina asked if Jason will still do the pancake breakfast. Gary said yes he wants to do it Saturday morning. Patty suggested starting the pancake breakfast at the community hall, then the opening ceremony followed by the walk/run which is coordinated by Sarah Barnett and the healthy living group.
Tina suggested reaching out the homeschool group, Kim and Maria coordinate the learning legacy coop. to see if they want to do an event. Aaron and Ann will contact Kim and Maria about the homeschool getting involved.
Tina spoke with Dawn Goudreau about an activity up at their farm. She has different pens and petting zoos. Dawn is excited and up for anything. We suggested the ice cream truck and have a couple hours opening and do the petting zoo, we can do hot dogs, chips and a drink to have a mini fair day. Diane Longe suggested the 8th grade could do the hot dogs as a fund raiser for the 8th grade. Tina suggested hooking up their tractor and doing hay rides through the state forest loop. The Goudreaus have an extensive list of animals. Possibly Thursday or Friday evening. No school on Friday.

Gary asked if the celebration committee was going to do food sales or meals for the celebration day.
Patty gave a financial position of the celebration group. We have $ 17,995.16 to work with for the OHD.
Aaron Tefft, the church would like to fill in where needed, game night/movie night. We talked about a lunch on Sunday. Lunch will start about 12:00 and run through 1:15. Sunday service is 9am through 11:30 am.
SUNDAY:
7:30 coffee and pastry, possibly ask the bakery for donations of baked goods, Pine Hill can donate donuts, Hagers could donate baked goods, (pencil that in for now)
9am starts the childrens and adults Sunday school
10am worship service
12:00 lunch – 1:15
1:30 parade.
Closing ceremony immediately following the parade at the community hall, (after meeting suggestion for reference…..possible to have baked apple crisp and ice cream at the community hall following the closing ceremony if the closing ceremony was held at the community hall, Ronna Brandt)
WEDNESDAY (TBD)
Games or movie nights.
Games could be played then during an intermission there could be Halifax Trivia. The church has a projector which could be loaned to the Hall. The church has wired speakers if the movie was held at the church. Aaron and Ann have speakers that would have to be investigated to see if they could be hooked up. Inside the church they have a large white wall in which to play movies.
Patty spoke about the difficulties in securing a band. And asked about the possibility of opening up Friday night for a band instead of Saturday. And the end of day activity on Saturday could be a movie through the church. Gary knows a cover band from southern CT called furious George and he will ask. Ann will talk to her mom about the band that she is in.
Cornhole needs a coordinator.
SATURDAY
Patty said we need to highlight Halifax.
Tell ronna about the Marlboro morris dancers. They will be at Kathy moms house Saturday at 10:00. Kathy will ask andrea . Kathy will ask andrea if they could be in the parade.

Photo boards: make copies of peoples original photos to have on poster boards trifolds at the community hall to highlight yesteryear in Halifax.
DART: tina will ask paul regarding the helicopter to land in the field. Paul works there. They would let paul know when they are 15 minutes out, so we could clear the field.
Saturday good options have been lacking in the past: dan longe cooks all day, in the past there was French fries supplied by pete lafogg, fried dough was done by sarah barnett in the past was kim tefft/monica sumner. The baked potatoes were a great hit. Aaron and Anns daughter could do a lemonade stand. Jason has the hot dog steamer. Can be used for movie night or game night.
Next mtg scheduled for may 29.
Diane longe will talk to the firemen and see about a jaws of life, and the firemens water polo and she will check with dan about cooking for that day. Diane will talk to Grant fisher about fire works.
Aaron and ann will reach out to kim and maria, and she will talk to her mom, and see about getting ahold of a pop corn machine. She will talk to shelly from the Jville bakery about pastry donations, Diane Longe will talk to pine hill
Kathy will talk to Andrea about the morris dancing. and April for the face painting
Tina, will do the donation request letter for Gift cards, and will talk to dawn about her day.
Gary will bounce house Mark Castillo , furious George band. Jasons hot dog machine.
Tina: always wanted to a team scavenger hunt. In the days prior leading up to the celebration day, and including the celebration events and then conclude it on Sunday.
Patty suggested the larges circumference tree. Aaron works for black diamond. Al Dacey.
Tina suggested Marshall Case to be involved.
