SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

June 12, 2024

6:00 PM AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARY

The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Paul Blais at 6:00 PM in the Halifax Elementary School Library. Also present were School Board members Judy Anyan and Chum Sumner; Selectboard members Patrick McAllister, Rhonda Ashcraft and Edee Edwards; and Trustee of Public Funds Steven Cohen. No one attended virtually and the meeting was not set up for recording.

Steven Cohen reviewed 2024 Cael scholarship fund availability. Interest rates being high, the $1213.19 for the fund year is closer to $1500 when considering the present year.

Cael scholarship requests were reviewed. One letter that was thought to be a scholarship request turned out to be for other town business. Only one application was received and reviewed.

Patrick McAllister made a motion to award Samantha Noyes $1500. Judy Anyan seconded the motion. Edee Edwards asked for clarification if the award was typically split in two with 1/2 of the money being sent out at the start of each semester. Chum Sumner and others agreed that was the standard protocol.  The motion carried 6-0.

Sumner made a motion to adjourn. McAllister seconded. The motion carried 6-0. The meeting closed at 6:13 PM.
