OFFICE OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
Town of Halifax, Vermont
PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
October 9, 2018

Chairman Turner Lewis opened the public hearing to consider the Heather Nelson and Lisa Stagner subdivision request at 7:03 p.m. Planning Commission members William Pusey and Jason Ashcroft were in attendance; Kaitlin Stone and Alice Aldrich were unable to attend. Stephan Chait, Heather Nelson, and Robbin Gabriel were also present.

Turner Lewis read the public hearing notice for the record, as follows: Pursuant to 24 VSA §4464(a)(1)(A) notice is hereby given that the Halifax Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on October 9, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Town Office at 246 Branch Road, West Halifax, Vermont, to consider the following: Request of Heather Nelson and Lisa Stagner for Final Plat approval to allow a 39.2+/- acre lot to be subdivided into 2 lots; Lot 1 = 3+/- acres, Lot 2 = 36.2+/- acres, at 587 Thomas Hill Road; Rural Residential District; Tax parcel THM.0587.   A copy of the application and map is available for review at the Town office during regular office hours.

Lewis solicited comments and questions from those present. William Pusey asked whether the Planning Commission had received any letters from property abutters. No written comments had been received, though Heather Nelson said she and Lisa Stagner had heard by phone from several neighbors willing to come in support of the application if needed. Lewis made a motion to approve the Heather Nelson/Lisa Stagner subdivision request. Jason Ashcroft seconded the motion, which passed, 3-0.

Gabriel advised that a final written decision would be sent by certified mail within 45 days, after which there would be a 30-day appeal period. Nelson asked what the appeal period meant. Gabriel said if someone had objection to the decision once it was issued, they could enter an appeal within 30 days.

The hearing adjourned at 7:07 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Robbin Gabriel
Planning Commission Interim Secretary
