Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. Board members in attendance were Lewis Sumner and Earl Holtz. Edee Edwards was absent. Others present were Robbin Gabriel and Brad Rafus.

New Business

Road Commissioner’s Orders
The Road Commissioner’s orders were reviewed and signed.

Better Backroads
Sumner had received the completed Better Backroads grant application from Rafus, and said that although the Board had originally intended to address the issue at the Tuesday, May 6, regular meeting, the application needed attention earlier to meet the May 5th submission deadline. The grant request is for improvements to Stark Mountain Road. Holtz noted that the project would fall into the 2015 fiscal year budget if the grant was approved, so the work would commence after July 1st if the grant is approved. Holtz asked whether the Town would be able to work with Colrain to remove gravel and fill washed down off the mountain during Irene. Rafus responded that the question had been asked, but the state will not permit the deposit area to be disturbed. Sumner made a motion that the Board sign the Better Backroads grant. Holtz seconded the motion, which passed 2-0-0.

Selectboard/Planning Commission Joint Meeting
Holtz had an email message from Edee Edwards advising she was still waiting for some responses before setting a firm date for a joint meeting to discuss the Act 250 application. She will update the Board as soon as she has full information.

Calendar
Holtz told the meeting that the web site calendar is up and running.
