New Business

VTel in Halifax

The VTel tower in Halifax Center is now live. The Selectboard put out a press release to get the word out and articles appeared in the Reformer, The Commons, and Deerfield Valley News.

Edwards also did a radio interview.

Bruno noted that she had a good experience signing up for the service and her dealings with VTel customer service have been good. Her internet service is working great so far and averages 15 mbps download and 8 mbps upload based on speed tests on Ookla.

Horne noted that she is not able to sign up for service through VTel. She was told possible service for her residence would come from a different tower in Marlboro.

The group discussed the different router options available through VTel. Horne will inquire whether a VTel representative would be available to come to a Broadband Committee meeting to discuss options and packages with residents.

The committee may also ask that info on the availability of internet services be published in the school newsletter.

The committee encourages people to share their experiences with various internet providers with us. Becker may create a page on the town website to post reviews and experiences for those that want to make them public.

The committee had a celebration and discussed the possibility of finding gaps in coverage that may still be in town.
