October 24, 2011 Minutes- Special Meeting

A special meeting of the Halifax Broadband Committee was called to order at 6:30pm Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Halifax Town Office. Present were committee members Edee Edwards, Curtis Carroll, Earl Holtz, Gretchen Becker, and Jessica Bruno. Member of the public present was Blaise McGarvey.

Old Business:

Broadband Survey:

Becker offered a revised copy of the letter to be included with the Halifax Broadband survey.

It was agreed that a reference chart outlining the different types of internet service, speeds, and required bandwidth for samples of activities would be included with the letter and survey. The Committee reviewed and revised the survey to make it ready for distribution this week. It was voted 3-2-0 to include language in the survey stating that: “Every other school in the district has announced their intent to participate in Fiberconnect.”

Carroll will look into making the survey available online via SurveyMonkey.

A special meeting will be held Thursday October 27, 2011 at 5:30pm to prepare the surveys and letters for distribution.

Edwards moved and Carroll seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:20pm and the motion passed 5-0-0.
