Call to Order

The meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. Planning Commission members Turner Lewis, Bill Pusey, Kaitlin Stone, and Tommy Fox attended. Tina Blais was also present. 

Changes and Additions to Agenda

None.

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

Stone made a motion to approve the December 10, 2019 regular meeting minutes as written. Pusey seconded the motion, which passed 3-0.

New Business

The Commissioners reviewed Statutes 19 V.S.A. 1111(k) and 24 V.S.A. 4416(b) on request by the Vermont Agency of Transportation to make sure the Town Plan was in compliance with state statutes. After review and discussion the commissioners found that the new Town plan complies with state statutes 19 V.S.A. 1111 (k) and 24 V.S.A. 4416 (b).

Stone made a motion stating that they believe the Town Plan is in Compliance; Pusey seconded the motion, which passed 4-0.

Hearing of Visitors

Steven Chait gave a brief over view of the new Broad Band Committee for the town. The committee has a Warrant, Article 3 in this year’s Town Meeting asking if the town will vote, by a floor vote to allow them to become part of a bigger committee that the state has developed, Communication Union District made up of the surrounding town districts. This group will be working with the Windham Regional Commission who has been granted a $60, 000 grant to work towards providing Fiber optic cable that will be available to all Halifax residents. Chait stated this will be a very long path, but the outcome looks promising.
