SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 28, 2024

6:00 PM AT THE HALIFAX TOWN OFFICE

CALL TO ORDER

At 6:01 PM Pete Silverberg called the meeting to order. In the room board members Silverberg and Edee Edwards were in attendance, with Karen Christofferson and Patrick McAllister online.  Mike Fournier also attended in person.

No changes or additions to the agenda.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Edwards made a motion to go into executive session to discuss candidates and interview for Highway Department positions. Silverberg seconded.  The motion carried 4-0, and Executive Session started at 6:02.

The board came out of executive session at 7:01 PM.

OLD BUSINESS

Highway positions openings

Edwards noted that a total of 6 candidates had been reviewed. There are 3 which we will not pursue for interviews at this time. There was one candidate who stood out in terms of having a CDL license, relevant experience, and the likelihood of making a positive addition to the team.

McAllister made the motion to offer Candidate A the full-time ongoing position on the crew at $25/hr starting rate. Silverberg seconded. The motion carried 4-0.

Silverberg will draft an offer letter and call the candidate. McAllister offered to help review the letter.

Edwards will ask the Halifax Administrative Assistant to arrange for interviews with Candidates B and C on Monday. Edwards will draft a letter in preparation to send to candidates who will not be interviewed.

None present.

Adjournment at 7:14 PM.  Edwards the made motion. Silverberg seconded. Carried 4-0.
