REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
October 21, 2013

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:02am at the town office.  Board members in attendance were Edee Edwards, Lewis Sumner, and Earl Holtz. Others in attendance were Jessica Bruno, Brad Rafus, and Wayne Courser.

Road Commissioner’s Orders

The road commissioner’s orders were reviewed and signed.

Hearing of Visitors

Rafus reported that he received the following estimates on guardrail materials:
Lafayette has 300’ of used guardrail which would cover one bridge for $1968. The second bridge cost would be slightly less as there is less footage.
VT Recreational has new guardrail costing $3700 for both bridges.
Rafus will purchase the used guardrail if it’s still available as it’s under the purchasing policy threshold.

Courser talked to the Selectboard about comments he’s been receiving from townspeople about the Selectboard’s involvement in the fire truck incident. The Selectboard explained that it is important for them to know what is happening in the community so that when people ask them questions, they are apprised of the situation. They also explained that as the town pays for the insurance, they have an interest in knowing about any claims involving the policy. They advised Courser to let people know that they should contact the Selectboard directly if they have any concerns (via phone, email or in person). They are happy to address any issues or concerns that citizens may have.

Holtz reported that Todd Menees from ANR did not find that the river debris piles were major. If residents want to remove any debris, they may obtain a permit from Menees.

There was a discussion regarding the detail of the Selectboard minutes. It was agreed that we should keep the current level of detail as it is a useful tool for the members when trying to recall or search for information.

Deerfield Valley Rescue will be attending the first Tuesday Selectboard meeting in November.
