NEW BUSINESS

McAllister submitted his letter of resignation and read it into the record:

Dear Selectboard members,

Serving as a member of the Halifax Selectboard is a wonderful and rewarding experience that I would recommend to anyone. In my time on the Selectboard I have met many residents, heard a variety of views on topics that concern our community, and learned a great deal about representing others.  I have endeavored to contribute to improving our Town’s governance and transparency while advancing the ideals that characterize Halifax.

Now, the demands of my job and family are changing. With my new responsibilities and circumstances my travel will increase to the extent that I do not feel I will be able to continue to carry out my responsibilities to the town. So with great regret, I must resign my seat on the Selectboard effective immediately.

I wish the Selectboard the best of luck in continuing its good work for the Town of Halifax.

Best regards,

Patrick McAllister

Edwards moved to have the election of a replacement Selectboard member to fill the remainder of McAllister’s seat on August 13, 2024. Christofferson seconded.  3-0-1 with McAllister abstaining.
