Halifax road revision: Traffic pattern change on Whitneyville Road & Brook Road intersection
The Halifax Selectboard, in consultation with the Town Attorney, has determined that the northerly “cutoff” from Whitneyville Road to Brook Road is in fact on private property. The town will no longer be maintaining this as if it were a road. The landowner wishes to reclaim it and will be blocking it from public vehicular access as of December 1, 2025.
As time and conditions permit, but with an expected start date of November 24, 2025, the Highway Department will place temporary-to-permanent gravel within the existing town right-of-way, north of the existing mapped intersection. This will allow greater line-of-sight and an easier turn radius for vehicles. Further work in the town right-of-way may be needed next year.
PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION AS YOU GET USED TO THIS NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN

NOT TO SCALE: Section marked with a red “x” will be CLOSED to public vehicular traffic December 1, 2025. New access within Town Right-of-Way is illustrated (again, not to scale) as a green line.
The existing intersection that will continue to be maintained is shown below from the current town roadmap:
