There are two athletic events on Halifax roads this weekend. Note that Green River Road is CLOSED except to local traffic Sunday ONLY 7-8:30 AM from Moss Hollow Road to Deer Park Road.
- D2R2: Deerfield Dirt-Road Randonnee. Bicycle event focusing on dirt roads. Benefit: Franklin Land Trust. Saturday, August 22, 2026. This is not a competitive race, and they will be on many different road in small groups. No road closures—just be aware.
• Green River Marathon. Running race between Potash Hill (former Marlboro College Campus) and Greenfield Community College. Due to the bunched up nature of the runners at this early part of the course, it is safest to keep vehicle traffic to an absolute minimum. Therefore, Green River Road is CLOSED except to local traffic Sunday, August 23, 2026 between Moss Hollow Road and Deer Park Road, from 7-8:30 AM.
