Meet the Candidates Special Meeting Minutes–DRAFT
February 24, 2026
AT THE HALIFAX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MULTIPURPOSE ROOM and online, immediately after 6 PM Information Hearing
CALL TO ORDER
Edee Edwards called the meeting to order at 7:28 pm. Other Selectboard members present were Karen Christofferson, Randy Pike, Rhonda Ashcraft and Lori Marchegiani. School Board members present were Paul Blais, Wade Ryan, and Cassie McLaren. Approximately 18 other voters were in person as well as about 8 people online which included 2 members of the media.

For each position, Edwards offered any write-in candidates an opportunity to speak, after anyone on the ballot did. In no cases did anyone state their interest as a write-in candidate.
Linda Lyon requested that the contested ballot be first, which was for Halifax School Director, three-year term. Paul Blais and Sean Youmell each spoke.
The list below notes a few people who were not present. Otherwise people gave a brief introduction of themselves and answered questions, if any.
Town Meeting Moderator: Paul Blais, one-year term
Selectboard Position: Randy Pike, three-year term
Selectboard Position: Karen Christofferson, two-year term
Town Clerk: Patty Dow, not present, three-year term
Town Treasurer: Patty Dow, not present, three-year term
Lister: Tina Blais, three-year term
Auditor: No candidate, three-year term
Auditor (remainder of term): No candidate, two-year term
Collector of Delinquent Taxes: Mary Brewster, one-year term
Trustee of Public Funds: Patrick McAllister, not present, three-year term
Cemetery Commissioner: Laurel Copeland, not present, three-year term
Halifax School Moderator: No candidate, one-year term.

Edwards made a motion to adjourn at 7:50pm.
