OFFICE OF THE SELECTBOARD
Town of Halifax, Vermont
SELECTBOARD SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
June 30, 2016

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Selectboard members Lewis Sumner and Mitchell Green were present; Bradley Rafus was away on vacation. Patty Dow and Robbin Gabriel were also present.

Changes and/or Additions to Agenda

While Patty Dow was researching numbers related to disbursements from the delinquent tax sale escrow account, Sumner and Green discussed upcoming town employee wage increases. Wages will be on the July 5, 2016 regular meeting agenda.

Sign Order to the Treasurer

This order, signed on the last day of FY16, included payments from the 2015 tax sale. Two properties were redeemed, and one was transferred to the tax sale purchaser. Green noted that the Town owns a small piece of land on Jacksonville Stage Road from a tax sale many years ago; he suggested selling it. Sumner said the parcel would not pass a perc test. Dow mentioned that people looking for a small plot of land on which to park a camper might be interested.

Hearing of Visitors

Dow asked permission to upgrade the Town’s Fairpoint internet service. Presently the Town is paying $26.00 a month, and experiencing frequent slow speeds and dropped connections. Dow will find out what upgrades are available and what the cost would be.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Robbin Gabriel
Selectboard Secretary
