OFFICE OF THE SELECTBOARD
Town of Halifax, Vermont
SELECTBOARD EMERGENCY MEETING MINUTES
July 13, 2016

Selectboard members Lewis Sumner and Brad Rafus met with Meghan Brunk (VTrans) and State Structural Engineer Sven Scribner at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the Town Offices parking lot. From there they traveled to the Branch Road bridge at Hubbard Hill to inspect the renovation work done recently by Renaud Construction and, in particular, to discuss a question raised about state requirements for treatment of the I-beams. Scribner, who developed the specifications for the project, advised that more detail should have been provided regarding the I-beams; they need to be greased over the entire length. Rafus will relay this information to Renaud; the contractor has advised they will complete the project in accordance with instructions provided by the engineer.

Next, the group made a stop at Sumner Farm Road to examine the bridge and discuss any needed improvements. The bridge itself is in good condition, but the railings have deteriorated and should be replaced. There will be more specific discussion of the project at a later date.

The meeting concluded at about 11:30 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Robbin Gabriel
Selectboard Secretary
