Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:06 a.m. Selectboard members Lewis Sumner, Mitchell Green, and Bradley Rafus were present, as were Stephan Chait and Robbin Gabriel. Patty Dow stepped in from the Town Clerk’s office several times during the course of the meeting to answer questions.

New Business

FY19 Budget Preparation (Selectboard Budget)
The Board reviewed all line items for the proposed FY19 Selectboard budget. The Town’s 2019 fiscal year begins July 1, 2018. Wages and salaries for Town officials were level-funded, with the exception of the Listers budget, which was increased by $4,000. The Board told Stephan Chait that costs for an anticipated town-wide reappraisal several years down the road will come from the legal services and separate reappraisal budgeted funds; they are not a part of the regular Listers budget. Medicare and FICA expenses cannot be calculated until after the proposed highway budget is prepared. The office repairs and maintenance category was increased by $500 to cover fluorescent bulb replacement in the Town offices. The Planning Commission has been awarded an $8,000 grant which will cover most of the costs of updating the Town Plan. The Board supplemented that with an additional $2,000. $50,000 was proposed for bridge construction—down from $70,000 in FY18—and $10,000 for estimated contracted recycling expenses. Liability, property and casualty, unemployment, and workers’ compensation insurances were estimated based on FY18 figures. True numbers for insurance will be available after January 1^st, in time for inclusion in the final proposed budget.

The Selectboard will meet again at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 to continue working on the budget.
