Hearing of Visitors
David Jones said he was happy the Town had voted to form the Communications Union District (CUD). The next step, he advised, was for the Town to appoint a representative and two alternates to the CUD governing board, at the next regular Selectboard meeting. Jones gave the Board a copy of a model resolution which will be reviewed during the next meeting of the Broadband Working Group. Only minor revisions are expected. Jones asked if the Selectboard would like the Working Group to offer recommendations for CUD representatives. Green said yes, the Board would appreciate recommendations in time for the Selectboard’s March 17th meeting. We’ve had 120 responses to the survey, said Jones, and we expect more. Stephan Chait said that if, by the end of the week, the response numbers had not increased, the Broadband Commission would consider sending out a mailing. Sumner said he had a call from the Brattleboro Reformer requesting information about Town Meeting, so there would probably be mention of the survey process in the newspaper. Jones told Green that Whitingham and Wilmington had voted yes on the CUD question, but he had not yet heard about Marlboro.
Stephan Chait announced that Conservation Commission member Linda Huebner, whose term is expiring, will be retiring due to a busy schedule. Huebner is willing to continue until a new member is found, and the Commission is searching for volunteers. The Selectboard will make as many town official appointments as possible at their March 17th meeting.
The Board signed two overweight permit requests.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Robbin Gabriel
