TOWN OF HALIFAX, VERMONT

SELECTBOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTES—DRAFT

November 16, 2021

CALL TO ORDER:

Sumner called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm.  Selectboard members present were, Lewis Sumner, Pete Silverberg, Cara Cheyette, and Earl Holtz (participating remotely).  Others in attendance in person or remotely were Sarah Barnett, Stephan Chait, Ray Combs, Laurel Copeland, Mike Fournier, David Jones and Kaitlin Stone.

CHANGES OR ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:

None.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:

Cheyette moved to accept November 2 regular minutes with one correction; motion seconded and passed, 4-0.

Sumner moved to accept November 6 special minutes; motion seconded and passed, 4-0.

NEW BUSINESS:

Highway Update: Fournier updated board on various outstanding issues.

Town Report:  Discussion with Barnett about steps involved in preparing the Town Report.  Rough estimate of time needed, 15-20 hours.  Sumner moved to hire her to prepare it at $20/hour plus expenses and mileage.  Motion seconded and passed, 4-0.  Copeland volunteered her assistance; the two will be in touch.

Uniform Policy:  Discussion about developing policy re uniform stipend for road crew.  Silverberg and Holtz will discuss with Patty Dow.

OLD BUSINESS

Silverberg provided brief ARPA and post office updates.

OTHER BUSINESS

Discussion about sheriff coverage in town.  Silverberg will reach out to sheriff to discuss.

Sumner read letter of resignation of Halifax Secretary/Admin Anna Duca.  Collective commendations of her work and concerns about why.  Silverberg and Holtz will reach out.
