SELECTBOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTES—APPROVED

JANUARY 5, 2023

 

CALL TO ORDER:

Sumner called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Selectboard members present were Lewis Sumner, Pete Silverberg, Patrick McAllister, and Paul Blais. Others in attendance in person or remotely were Edee Edwards, Roza Podlaski, Bob Teree, Blake Janovksy, Janice Bliss, Chris Parkins and Patricia Dow.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:

Blais made a motion to accept the special December 20, 2022 minutes, seconded by Silverberg, passed 2-0 with McAllister and Sumner abstaining due to not being present at the meeting. 

Blais made a motion to accept the regular December 20, 2022 minutes, seconded by McAllister. 

CHANGES OR ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:

Sign the Certificate of HWY Mileage.

To discuss posting of the roads.

Silverberg requested an executive session for the end of the meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Complete Preliminary Budget – Went through each line item on the Selectboard Budget Analysis where we left off. 

We will have a special meeting on Tuesday, January 24th at 6pm to finalize the budget. 

One percent local option tax on rooms will be discussed at the next meeting. 

Sumner made a motion to approve a salvage yard permit for Paul Crosier to renew it. This is done every 5 years. He has a salvage yard and needs a permit from us, which will be regulated by the state. 

Sumner motioned to approve and sign the Certificate of Highway Mileage, seconded by Silverberg, passed 4-0. 

 

OLD BUSINESS

ARPA Funds – no new updates 

Highway wages budget for next year – Found that we are a bit low on salaries for HWY wages compared to other towns. Roberts did a lot of research so we would like to discuss when he can be here. The class starts April 10th and lasts for two to three weeks. 

Town Report/Admin Assistant time and wages – Podlaski will keep track of her hours and do the town report.    

OTHER BUSINESS

None

 

HEARING OF VISITORS

Blake Janovsky signed up for CDL classes on his own. The class price is $5,000 and on the agreement it states pay up to $4,000. He is requesting if we can reimburse the full cost of the class. 

We will have to add this budget line item to FY24.

Blais made motion to cover the current cost of CDL training of $5,000 payable as the employment agreement indicated with the first reimbursement being 25% in this FY, 50% in the next FY, and 25% in FY24 (to be paid in 6 month intervals), seconded by Sumner, approved 4-0. 

Silverberg would like to amend the agreement so that we have and update to reflect the new number. 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

The board went into executive session and came out at 8:53pm with no decisions made. 

SELECTBOARD ORDER

The order was read and signed. 

SIGN OVERWEIGHT PERMITS

No Overweight permits to sign. 

 

McAllister motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Silverberg. Passed 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
