Committee for Animal Control Meeting Minutes- DRAFT
Town of Halifax, Vermont
September 23, 2025
6:00 PM at the Halifax Town Office
Sue Kelly called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. Other Committee members present were Liz Moore, Jennie Crocker, Kim Lehner and Chris Lehner. Selectboard member present: Karen Christofferson. Members of the public present physically or via Zoom: Nancy McCrea.
Meeting minutes of 9/14/25 were unanimously approved.
The committee reviewed and discussed terms of the proposed ordinance. The committee reached general consensus on the issues of “running at large” and “vicious dogs” as outlined in the proposed ordinance. A third issue of “disturbing the peace” was discussed but general consensus was not reached regarding how to define the threshold (sound volume, duration, frequency etc.) for determining a violation. Input and discussion were also contributed by Nancy McCrea along with the committee on each issue.
The committee agreed to further discuss defining the threshold for “disturbing the peace” and penalties/costs for each listed offense in the next meeting.
The next meeting will be at the town office at 6:30 PM on 9/28/25.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:11 PM.
