Here’s an update on GMP’s work that affects our roads, posted 8/9/2025:
Tucker Road, Stowe Mountain Road, and Deer Park Road have their initial finish grade of 2″ of gravel. Work continues on Reed Hill Road, McMillan Road, and Jacksonville Stage Road. Additional gravel will be coming all around as weather permits. See the chart below:
Additionally, see my posting on Front Porch Forum on 7/18, below. Progress is being made.
Hi, folks,
If you’ve been about town, you have undoubtedly noticed multiple construction projects that are underway.
Please refer to https://halifaxvt.com and https://halifaxvt.com/departments/highway/ for our best attempts to share the schedules of work that the town is doing, that contractors for the town are doing, and that Green Mountain Power and its subcontractors are doing for their Zero Outage Initiative. You may need to scroll down to see it all.
Communication amongst so many working parties is difficult. We just reinstated our ability to use VTAlert in case of emergencies, and we used that to notify people about the town-originating work. Please sign up for that–there’s basic information a link to register here: https://vem.vermont.gov/vtalert
For the GMP work the sequence of events, roughly, is trenching, electrical connections, and road grading. The roads may be fully closed at times, partially closed at others, and caution will be needed until the final grading occurs.
While we know that these infrastructure improvements will have long-term value, they also are causing short-term pain, and we apologize for that.
We encourage both your patience and your feedback.
