Time for a shout out! We have a new bulletin board in Halifax Center!

Howard Smith of Old County Road built and supplied a bulletin board for the town’s use in Halifax Center somewhere in the 2010-2015 timeframe.
It was put to good use. Sometimes, the old bulletin board was chock full, shown here in June 2024:

Prior to that, the three sites for posting the town’s agendas and public notices were in the West Halifax Post Office, outside the Town Clerk’s office, and in the Halifax Elementary School foyer, just feet away from the Town Clerk’s office.
In August 2024, the bulletin board had blown open during a windstorm, and election postings and papers were gone gone.
Just a few weeks ago, severe damage to the bulletin board was discovered by Mike Fournier, Highway Supervisor. At that point, a team of folks pulled off an amazing feat, replacing it before the Selectboard really had much time to think about it!
A small crew including Pete Silverberg and Gary Rand were asked to check it out and get some dimensions for replacement. Something a bit larger would be ideal; wind and rain had taken some toll.
Property owner David Brewster was contacted and graciously agreed to the siting “sight unseen” as he was out of town. Dig Safe was a go, and the Selectboard gave approval for a cost reimbursement to our builders.
This lovely and practical structure should again serve us well for years to come, seen here next to Howard Smith’s recently refurbished Little Free Library with the Halifax Union Society church and the Andrews’ property in the background.

We’re especially grateful for the hands-on work of:
Howard Smith, original bulletin board creator, and Gary Rand, chief builder 2026!
